The Grinch That Stole Daylight

Oh, my dearest Mr. Fall Daylight Saving Time, where do I even begin?

I feel like we have tried to accommodate you in every way possible. We open our home and allow you inside each year, no questions asked. Our clocks bow down to your every wish and command. We even overlooked your tardiness when you decided to arrive late this year.

Yet it seems you have become downright underhanded, sneaky and greedy. Your name implies that you are wholeheartedly devoted to saving our time, marketing yourself in a manner that suggests we will "gain" an extra hour of sleep upon your arrival.

However, in stark contrast, your reality steals hours of outside play and special evening walks from our family.

But even that just wasn't enough for you.

This year, you have taken it a step further by robbing us of beloved sleep, as well. Since your arrival, Park's semi-reasonable 7:45 am wake up time has morphed into an unbearable, middle of the night 6:15 am.

I hold you fully responsible for this disruption. And despite my futile efforts to black out his windows and cling to the darkness, it's as if you penetrate his very being and he is unmistakeably aware of your unwelcome presence.

And if Hubby wasn't such a morning person, willing and able to play in the wee hours of dark thirty, I'm not so certain I wouldn't just sell our clocks and forget I've ever met you.

At least until Spring.

This made me laugh! Since I have to be up for work early in the morning I've been missing the AM sunshine! And I kind of like it getting dark early...it gears me up for Winter and its wonderful Holidays. I pray your adorable Park will learn to sleep in a bit once his body clock adjusts!

Amen! Preach the word, sister!

The good news: It only takes a week -- or three -- for children's body clocks to reset.

Until then, drink coffee. Lots of coffee.

Amy-

Found him at Church, sweet friend, and if that doesn't make the case for corporate worship, what will?:)

Oh yes ... I can relate at my house as well. Not to mention that by evening I'm so tired too.

You can always move to Indiana--they don't do DST there. Obviously the mothers of the state stood up and revolted!

But don't move--it's too far to drive to go to Chili's once a month! And how on earth would you learn to sew???

On the other hand, a child who sleeps trumps Chili's dates and sewing. Maybe we should ALL move there??

Oh, I'm so with you. I hate not taking walks with my family now. I have started going in the morning withour my hubby but it is so sad. I think that even the outside looks sad. The past few days have been gloomy here in the Hill Country!

I agree with you, however, it is 7:07 and my kids are tucked away in their jammies with books simply because it is dark outside and when it is dark outside we go to bed :) Nice to have an evening every once in awhile~I'm brewing coffee and going to curl up on the couch and watch the country music awards...

Oh, amen! Couldn't have said it better myself. I especially like the 'dark thirty' line...

WE are experiencing the same thing in our house. About the same time, too. It must be the kid's time clock is stronger than blackout curtains, and later bedtimes in hopes of trying to sneak in extra sleep in the morning. It NEVER WORKS in our house..boo!!
